HOLLYWOOD HIT SHATTERS WOODBINE TRACK RECORD IN G3 VIGIL STAKES

HOLLYWOOD HIT, the son of CACTUS RIDGE, blazed to a new track record for seven furlongs at Woodbine Race Course with his victory in the Grade 3, $147,037 Vigil Stakes.

HOLLYWOOD HIT's performance was bravura from the start. Quickly away, he outsprinted Breeders' Cup Sprint runnerup Fatal Bullet through an opening quarter of :22 and a half in :43.72. Showing no signs of slowing down, he increased his lead and passed six furlongs in 1:07.33. He doubled his margin to the wire, winning by three lengths and stopping the clock in 1:20.07, lowering the previous mark by .44.

"Even though he's got a high cruising speed, this horse was comfortable," said winning rider Jim McAleney. "I was very confident. This horse is incredible. I feel very privileged."

"When they go that fast, you're always worried how they're going to finish. I know he's a very good horse," said Terry Jordan, who trains the winner for Peter Redekop. "He (worked in :33 3/5, breezing) the other morning and we had to pick him up with the pony. I've never been around one like this guy."

HOLLYWOOD HIT is now 6-for-11 with earnings of $322,964. In his previous start this season, he won the King Corrie Stakes at Woodbine on April 11. Bred in Oklahoma by C. R. Trout, he is out of the Time for A Change mare, Solid Hit.
